SQFI Gives 2018 Distinguished Service Award to Publix’s Michael Roberson

ATLANTA– The Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI) announced today that Michael J. Roberson of Publix Super Markets, Inc. is the winner of the 2018 SQFI Distinguished Service Award, an honor recognizing Roberson’s time and expertise throughout the industry in the area of food safety. The award was presented at the 2018 SQF International Conference in Atlanta in front of a group of more than 800 food safety and quality professionals.

 

Roberson serves as the director of corporate quality assurance at Publix Super Markets, Inc. where he oversees business initiatives regarding food and product protection and safety, food defense, private brand development, and quality assurance integrity, recalls and compliance programs. His achievements span his 22 years of experience in the food safety industry. He has been published more than 50 times in scientific journals and publications as an industry expert and exudes passion for the food retail industry, as evidenced by his long-term involvement with the Food Marketing Institute’s (FMI) Food Protection Committee that stewards the association’s relevant policies and programs.

 

Chief Food Safety Assessment Officer and Senior Vice President of SQFI Robert Garfield honored Roberson’s achievements, saying, “Michael continues to influence advancements in food safety through his commitment to the supply chain. He is a stalwart champion for the profession and upholds standards for the safest, highest quality products that consumers deserve and enjoy.”
